History of Walter Carter

Walter Carter Pty Ltd is a privately-owned Australian company that has served the people of Sydney (in particular, those who reside in the Eastern Suburbs) since 1887.

The company was founded by Walter Carter, and continued by Hanson Carter, Walter Carter II, and is today owned by Gordon Smith and his family, descendants of Walter Carter. Presently, administration of the company is in the care of the Chief Executive Officer, Ron Foley.

Walter Carter had been Mayor of Waverley, which began a strong family commitment to the community. Hanson (Sep) Carter represented the Australian Cricket Team as wicket keeper from 1902 to 1921, and continued his involvement with the Waverley Cricket Club for the rest of his life.
